Engagement Shoot Solihull
After David and Helen booked me to photograph their wedding at Swallows Nest Barn, they invited me do an engagement shoot at their local park. It was the coldest and sunniest day in January. We bravely headed off to Solihull Park armed with their adorable baby boy and their adorable fur baby dog. I worked very quickly as it really was so cold and managed to get some beautiful family portraits. After spending the morning with the family, I was so excited for their wedding day.
Bridal Preparations , Swallows Nest Barn
So fast forward to August, this time on the hottest day of the year. Helen was getting ready with her bridesmaid and her mom at the Ramada in Solihull. It was a super chilled, relaxed atmosphere as Helen got her hair and make up professionally done. Helen slipped into her wedding dress and we were all blown away. She looked just amazing and I could not wait to see how David , her groom would react when he saw just how beautiful she looked. The father of the bride arrived and started telling us hilarious stories about the toaster at breakfast, which helped everyones last minutes nerves and then it was time to go and get married.
St Alphege Church, Solihull
St Alphege Church is a 20 minutes ride to Swallows Nest Barn, however its is a 5 minute walk from the Ramada. I had parked at the church earlier and ran from the bridal preparations to the Church.( I know, me run). Out of breath, I arrived at the church ready for action. Guests were arriving and they were excited and in great spirits. David was so calm and so excited and took his place at the front of the church to wait for his future wife.
The wedding ceremony was beautiful and I loved how Helen and David kept giggling with each other. They then walked back up the aisle as husband and wife. Outside we battled with the heat, it really was so hot. Helen and David wanted a few formal photographs outside the church and then they cooled off with a glass of champagne inside their wedding car and they headed off to Swallows Nest Barn.
Swallows Nest Barn- Warwickshire
I have photographed a couple of weddings at the Swallows Nest Barn in Warwickshire. It really is a very beautiful wedding venue set in the middle of the countryside. It is away from the main road and surrounded by the most beautiful green fields. When the wedding guests walked into Swallows Nest Barn it really had that “wow” factor for them. On arrival wedding guests were treated to champagne and canapés as they were serenaded by the most amazing wedding singer.
In the main barn an amazing belly filling wedding breakfast was served to the wedding guests. And the wine served was called “Underwoods” which is the same surname as my bride and groom.
There are many beauiful moments I remember from a wedding, one of those from Helen David’s wedding was when I found the Best Man, on his own, away from the wedding breakfast ,practising his wedding speech. He was so determined to get it right for Helen & David. The practise helped and he gave an amazing best man speech. All of the speeches were very emotional and this to was a very precious time too.
My favourite wedding photographs are those that are natural , reportage style. However I also like to be creative and if I see a sunset I love to try and get my brides and grooms into it. Helen and David spent a little time outside with me where they had chance to take in what had happened at the wedding so far and I was able to create some amazing evening portraits.
Thank you to Helen and David for letting me part of your adventure. This is what they kindly said about their wedding photographs
“Faye recently photographed our wedding and prior to that we had a family photo shoot with her. She’s simply fab! She is really professional yet fun and friendly – instantly puts you at ease. The photos she takes are amazing – no staged shots just very natural. We were very lucky for her to be part of our special day. I can’t recommend her enough.”
